Avery Jiral won the Speuter Essay Contest award at Cottageville. She is in Ms. Ellington’s class. For the first time, she gave her award to a shelter dog so it could be neutered and go to a rescue. A puppy named Shirley was chosen to be spayed. She was spayed and then a few days later she was on a rescue van to the New York City area. Avery is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Jiral of Cottageville. At left is Animal Shelter director Reggie O’Neil with FoCCAS volunteer Carol Armentrout.
