The goal of Colleton Keys in the coming year will be to strengthen its coalition to enable the group to reach out to youth and adolescent concerns in 2018. Plans for ways to do that were discussed at the group’s Nov. 15 meeting.
Upcoming meetings will include training and exposure to data and its projected outcome promoting results and best practices. Members were asked to find ways to promote opportunities for people to become involved in helping area youth.
The vision of the Colleton Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (CCADA) is to serve as the principal authority on matters and conditions associated with substance use disorders. Colleton Keys is the youth-focused coalition of local CCADA, business and individual representatives whose mission is “developing a community that supports local youth in making better choices.”
The delivery of broad spectrum behavioral health services including substance use disorders is essential in promoting durable and lasting treatment and recovery for all individuals who hope to reduce negative health, economic and social risks associated with substance use disorders.
The next meeting is set for Jan. 17 at 4 p.m. at the CCADA office. The agenda will focus on Colleton Keys activities during the annual Rice Festival and developing opportunities to work with youth and adolescents during spring activities such as spring break and graduation.
