Athletic Awards: Football – All-Region Defensive Line (2015); Basketball – Best Defense (2015-16)
College Interest: Charleston Southern University
Intended Major: I plan to major in architectural engineering and pursue a career in the same.
Collegiate Sports: I would like to play football should the opportunity arise.
Early Beginnings: I started playing baseball at the Colleton County Recreation Center when I was about 5 years old.
On Football: I love the game of football. It’s hard work, but I love being part of the team.
Role Model: My dad is my role model. He can be tough. But, I know that he will have my back in anything I do. He pushes me to be the best person that I can be and tells me what I need to hear, when I need to hear it. I may not always like it, but that’s another story.
Powerful Lesson: In the summer before my junior year, I didn’t want to play football — mostly because I didn’t want to spend what seemed like my whole summer practicing! Between my dad pushing me and Coach Gorrell’s words of wisdom, I realized being a part of the team and playing football was what was best for me. That summer was a growing experience. Anything you want to do in life requires work. Don’t miss out on a great opportunity because you are too lazy to put in the effort.
Outstanding Educator: Coach Leroy Riley, my history teacher at Colleton Prep. He is a great history teacher who has made me appreciate U.S. history because of his way of teaching. Thanks, Coach Riley!
Surprising Josh Fact: I can be argumentative at times. In fact, maybe I should become a lawyer! Also, I have a pretty good English accent, which makes my mom laugh.
On CPA: Colleton Prep is awesome — there is absolutely nothing I would change.
