From last year's event

Helping out those less fortunate is what Christmas is all about. And again this year, Colleton County First Steps will offer county residents the chance to help Colleton County families at Christmas through the Fill the Stocking Project.
Applications for families wishing to participate will be distributed on Nov. 1-18 at the Colleton County DSS office. DSS staff will verify the number and ages of children.
Then, First Steps will match applicants with donors, who will receive a card with the family’s information no later than Nov. 23.
Businesses, families and individuals who are interested in adopting a family or purchasing gifts to contribute to the project are needed. Ways to help include adopting a family; purchasing a toy for a child age infant-11; donating gift cards; or making a donation. Deadline for contributions is Dec. 12. Items can be picked up by First Steps staff.
Those interested may contact Cindy Dickerson at First Steps, 843-599-8787 or 843-542-9494 or by email, cdickerson@scfirststeps.org.
