The majority of the Walterboro Post Office staff purchased breast cancer t-shirts which they wore to work this week as part of a national initiative to show their support for the fight against breast cancer. The team is fully engaged with “Funding the Fight and Finding a Cure,” said Postmaster Doug Mixson Jr. In addition, the photos showcase the breast cancer research stamp that USPS offers. The stamp sells for $.60 and all proceeds above normal postage costs go to fund the fight and find a cure. “I am overwhelmed with joy to see each member of our Walterboro Postal Team engaged in the fight against breast cancer. Furthermore, the breast cancer postage stamp is a great opportunity for the public to join us in the battle. The breast cancer research stamp was issued on July 29, 1998, at a first-day ceremony held at the White House. As of August 2016, the stamp has raised over $82.9 million for breast cancer research.” Mixson said.
