Colleton Prep Academy crowned Penelope Tuten as the 2016 Homecoming Queen during the halftime homecoming ceremonies this past Friday evening on War Hawk Field.
Tuten is the daughter of Will and Dorcas Tuten of Walterboro. Penelope is three-sport athlete for the Lady Hawks, playing volleyball, basketball and softball. She plans to attend The College of Charleston next year.
Joining Head of School Jill Burttram for the crowning was Colleton Prep’s 2015 Homecoming Queen Ally Knight, the daughter of Jack and Leah Wright and Roy and Katherine Knight. She is a freshman at the University of South Carolina, where she is majoring in exercise science and is a member of Alpha Chi Omega.
Other senior homecoming candidates included Patricia Utsey, daughter of Dan and Kim Utsey, and Haley Wilson, daughter of Ken Wilson and Libby Wilson. Patricia hopes to attend The College of Charleston, while Haley plans to attend Clemson University.
Members of the 2016 Homecoming Court included freshmen Heather Davis, daughter of Kenny and Tracy Davis, and Langley Harter, daughter of Stephen Harter and Emily Warren.
Representing the sophomore class were Elizabeth Anne Dean, daughter of Scott and Tammy Dean, and Kayleigh Peters, daughter of Tammy Peters and Mark Peters.
Sydney Crosby, daughter of Mandi and Bud Herndon, along with Caroline Jones, daughter of Heath and Lori Jones, represented the junior class.
CPA expressed its appreciation to Chad and Lori Beard, Buford Wilson and Steve Moltop with Hilton Head BMW for allowing them to use their convertibles during the half-time homecoming parade of queens.
