The Colleton Prep JV volleyball team dropped games against Hilton Head and John Paul II last week. The young JV Lady Hawks are 3-8 on the season, but are rapidly improving.
According to Coach Ashley Finney, the JV Lady Hawks’ record is deceiving, as they are competing against much older opponents. “We are a very young team competing against much older teams,” said Finney. “We are mostly seventh graders facing eighth and ninth graders in most games. That being said, most of our games have been close ones, which speaks well for the future of our volleyball program. We are making improvements each day and I am very proud of how hard these girls play.”
Against Hilton Head, the JV Lady Hawks lost in three straight sets. Linley Jones had five aces and two kills to lead the team. Kenleigh Crosby collected four aces, Jessica Hughes had two kills and two aces, while Caroline Kinard and Bailee Stanley both recorded an ace each in the game.
The JV Lady Hawks were defeated by John Paul II in three sets on Thursday Sept. 22. Jones led the effort for Colleton Prep with two aces and four kills. Hughes had three aces and two kills in the match, Crosby had four kills and one ace and Emily Wilson had two aces.  Cassie Craven had one kill and Stanley had one ace in the match.
