PRAYING FOR ASSISTANCE. Area pastors gathered at Colleton County High School last week to pray for success in the new school year.

The sun had been up about an hour as they began to gather at the main entrance of Colleton County High School.

Black and white, male and female, those gathering shared a profession and a purpose on the drab, rain-threatened morning of Aug. 11. They were all ministers, and they all came to the high school to use prayer to ask for God’s blessings on the school and its staff and students in the new school year.

Gathering in a circle, they joined hands and took turns beseeching God to keep the staff and students and, to a larger extent the community, safe.
