A single-car crash in the 5400 block of Sidneys Road sent a 21-year-old male to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in Summerville. Safety forces were called to the crash on Aug. 25 at approximately 11 p.m. They found that a northbound Chevrolet Trailblazer left the roadway on a curve, crossed into the southbound lane, struck the ditch and overturned, striking several trees. A large tree caused the vehicle’s dashboard to trap the driver in his upside-down vehicle. Crews began treating him inside the vehicle, while other firefighters began the process of extricating him from the wreckage. After being freed from the SUV, the driver was transported to a Summerville medical facility. The South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
