Members of Colleton County Sheriff’s Office and Colleton County Fire-Rescue were sent to Perazim Place in Green Pond Saturday morning after a hunter was accidentally shot.
Another hunter fired the shot that injured the man’s arm.
The injured man was transported to the Trauma Unit of the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston by county paramedics.
Law enforcement personnel from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources are investigating the accidental shooting.
Man arrested in assault
Members of the sheriff’s office were called to a home on Sunrise Road in Smoaks Sunday at 1:15 p.m. to investigate an aggravated assault report.
Deputies arriving at the home found a man lying in the yard, bleeding from a head wound.
The victim said he and the suspect were involved in a dispute when the suspect allegedly struck him in the head.
The suspect fled the scene, but deputies located him a short distance away and took him into custody.
Otha Sheppard Jr., 52, of 906 Sunrise Road faces an aggravated assault charge as a result of the incident.
A resident of Ford Lane returned home the evening of Aug. 19 to find his residence had been burglarized.
The man said he found the back door of his home pried open and three large televisions worth $3,000 were missing.
Marijuana plants seized
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office reports that a deputy seized 15 marijuana plants Monday at 12:28 p.m. at a location on Bama Road in Cottageville.
The incident report filed by the sheriff’s office does not report any arrests in connection with the seizure.
