A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Jefferies Highway and Robertson Boulevard tied up traffic at the busy intersection and sent four people to the Emergency Department of the Colleton Medical Center for treatment. The two vehicles, a Mazda and a Honda SUV, collided in the intersection Aug. 28 at 7:51 p.m. The impact caused the Honda to roll onto its roof, leaving the two adult occupants hanging upside down by their seat belts. Firefighter-paramedics were able to force open the passenger-side and rear doors to gain access to the patients and carefully extricate them and transport them, as well as the two occupants of the Mazda, to the medical center. The intersection was blocked to traffic for nearly an hour while the wreckage was cleared. The Walterboro Police Department investigated the crash.
