The 10U Lowcountry Lightning went undefeated in a WFC tournament held in Moncks Corner on Saturday Aug. 27 to capture the championship.
In game one against the SC Hurricanes, they earned an 11-0 shutout in three innings. McKensie Beard pitched a complete game to earn the win with three strikeouts and one walk allowed. Every Lightning player on the roster crossed home plate in the game.
The Lightning earned its second shutout of the day in a 7-0 win over the Diamondbacks in game two. Marin Moody earned the win in the circle with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Against the Palmetto Strikers, the Lightning allowed its first run to be scored against them on the day in a lopsided 14-1 win. Moody was back in the circle, earning her second win of the day in a one-hitter, with six strikeouts and two walks allowed. Every player again crossed home plate for the Lightning.
In the championship game, the Lightning slipped past the Carolina Fire in a 6-5 finish. Moody earned her third win of the day in the circle for her team, collecting six strikeouts and surrendering four walks.
