Lightning 10U finishes 3rd in Mid-Atlantic tourney | Sports | The Press and Standard

The 10U Lowcountry Lightning participated in the USSSA Mid-Atlantic Championships held this past weekend in Lexington. The Lightning, coached by Johnny Voss, finished third in the tournament following a 3-2 finish.
In game one, the Lightning shut out the Lady Bombers 16-0. Marin Moody pitched the first inning and MacKenzie Beard closed the game. Every Lightning player scored in the game. Against the Carolina Aftershock in game two, the Lightning earned a 14-3 win. Moody was the winning pitcher.
The Lightning defeated the Mojo 15-2 in game three. Moody was once again the pitcher of record with eight
strikeouts. Against the Carolina Fire, the Lightning lost 6-5. Moody took the loss for the Lightning.
In the semi-finals, the Lightning lost 7-6 against the Aftershock. Moody, once again, was in the circle for the Lightning and pitched the first three innings. “MacKenzie Beard pitched the rest and we lost in extra innings,” said Coach Johnny Voss.
