Colleton County High School Athletic Director Chris Collins confirmed Cougar Baseball head coach, Percy Knight, resigned from both his teaching position and coaching duties on Thursday, July 21, 2016.

Dr. Melissa Crosby, Principal at CCHS, stated Knight turned in his resignation on Thursday, citing he had accepted a less-demanding position in order to spend more time with his family. In his letter, Knight stated he was extremely appreciative of his time at Colleton County High School and had enjoyed working closely with so many talented athletes during his time here.

Knight served as the head of the Cougar Baseball program for the past eight seasons, during which he led them to one playoff appearance in 2014-15. This past season, Knight led the Cougars to a 4-16 overall record and a 1-11 region record. In 2014-15, Colleton County posted a 3-9 region record.

Knight had at least 10 players to go on and play collegiate baseball.

According to Collins, the search for his replacement will begin immediately. “Our search for a new head baseball coach begins today,” said Collins. “We appreciate Coach Knight’s service across the past eight years and wish him much success in his future endeavors.”
