Colleton County Sheriff’s Office investigators are finding it difficult to locate witnesses to the shooting death of a Dorchester man in late May.
Lt. Shane Roberts, the public information officer for the sheriff’s office, reports that investigators have been able to identify some persons of interest in the murder investigation but have yet to obtain the information necessary to consider any of them as suspects in the shooting death of Jesse Guy, 38, of Dorchester and the wounding of a second man outside Club Leon at 8150 Round O Road.
The investigators, he added, have yet to pinpoint and verify a motive behind the shootings.
Guy and the second man were injured by gunfire in the club’s parking lot. The two were working as security guards at the nightclub, when they were reportedly shot while trying to quell a disturbance.
On May 28, shortly before 3:30 a.m., members of the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office and Colleton County Fire-Rescue were called to the club by reports of the shooting.
Guy was killed by a single gunshot to the torso. He had been shot in the back.
The second security guard was also shot during the disturbance outside the club, sustaining injuries to his right shoulder and bicep.
Both gunshot victims were transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in Summerville. Guy was pronounced dead at the Trauma Center.
