The Walterboro Darlings were eliminated from All-Star play on Thursday evening, following their second loss in the District 8 Tournament held at the ACE Basin Sports Complex last week.
The Darlings came out strong in their opening game last Monday with a 15-3 win over Bluffton. The win gave them a bye and seated them in the winner’s bracket. On Wednesday, they faced a strong Moncks Corner team and took a 12-9 loss. Threatening to tie the game in a bases-loaded situation, the Darlings had two back-to-back hits fall right into the gloves of the well-coached Moncks Corner team.
Dropping into the losers’ bracket, the Walterboro team faced Hanahan in an elimination game. Falling behind early, the Darlings came alive too late for a full recovery, losing 14-10.
The Darlings roster included Alexandra Johnson, Taegan Fail, Jhyricka Brown, Payton Tuten, Samauriah Breland, Xiomara Oxner, Emma Valentine, Madison Miller, Leigh-Ann Nowack, Addison Kellam, Brooklyn Holmes and Ja’meisha Stevens.
They were coached by Chris Holmes, Frankie Kellam and Dwanetta Scriven.
