GALAX, VA:       Charles W. Frangos of passed away Thursday June 16, 2016 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 85.

Mr. Frangos was born in Dorchester, MA. on January 23, 1931. He retired as a Staff Sergeant from the United States Marine Corps, where served with exchange units in Camp Lejeune, N.C., Korea, the MCAS in Miami, FL, and the Marine Barracks in Charleston, SC.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his daughter Donna A. Giberson of Inman, SC, and sons Charles W. Frangos Jr. of Galax, VA, and Patrick Frangos of Bluefield, VA. There are two step-sons, Brian K. Spencer of King, NC and Scott Spencer of Hillsville, VA. Mr. Frangos has five grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth, and by his son Gregg.

Graveside services with full Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corps, will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM in the Ackerman Cemetery near Cottageville. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 that morning at the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro.
