The War Hawk Football Program started spring practice this week, beginning May 17-19 from 5:30-7 p.m. Then, practice will continue Sunday-Thursday for the week beginning May 22, also from 5:30-7 p.m.
Coach Rob Gorrell returns for his second season as the War Hawk’s head football coach, and he anticipates dressing out almost 40 players.
“I am looking forward to a good spring,” said Coach Gorrell. “We return eight on offense and nine on the defensive side of the ball. It is going to be tough to replace our graduating seniors, but we’ll be OK. We are already miles ahead of where we were when I arrived last year. We have had a great off-season in the weight room. We will continue to work out every Monday-Thursday this summer, as well as have some additional practices and attend some 7-on-7 camps.”
The War Hawks finished their 2015 regular season at the 7-3 mark overall and advanced through the playoffs to the State Championship game, where they lost to Robert E. Lee.
