A Saturday evening wreck on Bells Highway sent six people to the medical facilities for treatment.

Calls into emergency dispatch reporting the two-vehicle crash Saturday at approximately 7:30 p.m. resulted in Walterboro Police, Walterboro Fire and Colleton County Fire-Rescue responding to the intersection of Bells Highway and Upchurch Lane.

Two adults and four teenagers were injured when the two vehicles collided. The impact caused a mini-van to flip onto its side. Fire-Rescue assigned three ambulances and a rescue vehicle to begin treating the victims.

The two adults in the van were transported to Colleton Medical Center. Three of the teenagers, ranging in age from 15-19, were also transported to the medical center. The fourth teen, a 19-year-old male, sustained significant injuries and was transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical in Summerville.

Traffic at the busy intersection was blocked for an hour. Walterboro Police investigated the crash.
