Wilbur (Wil) Lewis Hughes IV is a junior at Colleton Prep Academy, where he plays football and baseball for the War Hawks.
He is the son of Wilbur Lewis (Louie) and Leda Hughes III of Ruffin. His grandparents are Wilbur Lewis Hughes Jr. and Leona Hughes.
Wil is a graduate of Leadership Colleton.
GPA and class rank: My GPA is 3.42 and I am ranked 19th in my class.
Athletic Awards: No Surrender Award – Basketball and State Championship Baseball (2014).
College interest: I hope to attend the Citadel, where I would like to major in mechanical or electrical engineering. After college, I’d like to go into the Air Force as an officer.
Collegiate sports: I intend on attempting to walk-on for the baseball team at The Citadel.
On baseball: I’ve been playing baseball since I was six years old.
Role model: I consider both of my parents my role models because they have shown me the harder you work for something, the easier it is for you to accomplish your goal.
Meet & Greet: It would be my grandpa, Wilbur Lewis Hughes Jr. He died the day before my second birthday. I never really got to know or spend any time with him.
My grandma loves telling the story about how he couldn’t get to Charleston fast enough on the night I was born. She says he was so happy and proud I was his grandson.
