Bloodmobile coordinator Norma Weeks was disappointed in the turnout for the May 9 blood drive.
“The Red Cross sent an extra-large crew so there would be a short waiting period, but only 41 came in and only 30 pints of blood were collected. If you or someone you love ever needed blood, you just expect it to be there. But what if it wasn’t?” Weeks said.
Coming in to donate were William Todd, Ashley Amundson, Jan Canaday, Ernest Canaday, Erin Davis, Barbara Young, Jennifer Weeks, Virginia Strickland, Timothy Smyly, Bucky McCormack, Jim Bruce, Ronella Winchester, Anthony Colleton, Ricky Crosby, Brenda Bristow, Mike Kuszmaul, Bobby David, Cynthia Saimes, Doris Nettles, John Knight, Jessie Maloney, Pamela Ramsey, Victoria Reynolds, Melanie Marshall, Gary Hermann, Karen Gibson, Angela Keen, Barbara Grigg, Summer White, Arlene Cassedy, Brian Cassedy, P.A. Pournelle, Terry Pournelle, Celeste Stone, Tim Kinard, Kevin Campbell, Rethel Williams, Paulette Barr, Mary Rawl, Linda Clark and Norma Weeks.
The next blood drive at the First Baptist Church will be July 11. The Red Cross will not hold blood drives at the hospital or at the schools during the summer.
“Why don’t you do your part and come in and donate at the next drive?” Weeks said.
