A single-vehicle accident sent two adult females to the hospital Tuesday afternoon April 26.
At approximately 6:27 p.m., a southbound Ford pickup left the roadway on Rehoboth Road (S.C. Hwy 651) at Van **** Road. The truck flipped over several times before coming to rest on the driver’s side. Both occupants were trapped in the wreckage. It is believed the driver suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.
Crews from Fire-Rescue Station 9, located a mile from the scene, arrived within minutes. A second ambulance was requested, while firefighter-paramedics began working to free the patients.
Firefighters removed the windshield using hand tools to extricate the two patients.
Both were transported to Colleton Medical Center. Traffic in the 1500 block of Rehoboth Road was blocked for nearly an hour. The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
