The Colleton County JV Cougars spent part of their spring break participating in the H.I.T Tournament. Like their older varsity teammates, the JV team posted a 1-2 record in the tournament.
In game one against Summerville on Tuesday March 29, Colleton County mustered just three hits in their 10-0 loss against the Green Wave. Summerville scored twice in the second inning and managed to add runs in each inning of the five-inning game. Keel Murdaugh had a double for the JV Cougars with Wesley Bryan and Tristan Hiott collecting a hit each.
Recording the loss for Colleton County was Lane Lee. Lee allowed five earned runs on six hits, issuing four walks and collecting one strike-out. Chase Hadwin, Wesley Bryan and Jordan Crosby all saw relief work.
On Wednesday March 30, Colleton County lost 5-1 against Cane Bay, despite out-hitting the Cobras. Alan Grym made the start for the Cougars and held Cane Bay to just two hits, allowing no earned runs. Grym issued five walks and struck out eight in six innings of work. Chase Hadwin closed out the game. Keel Murdaugh had two hits, while Grym helped his effort with a single.
The JV team earned a 7-2 win over Berkeley on Thursday March 31. Colleton County struck first in the game, jumping out to a 2-0 lead on hits by Connor Morris and Jackson Morelli. The Cougars never gave up their lead in the contest with additional hits by Grym, Hadwin and Hiott.
Chase Hadwin was a workhorse for Colleton County, allowing one earned run, four hits and five walks. He struck out five during his seven innings of work.
