WALTERBORO – Mrs. Ernestine Hudson Crosby, 87, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Saturday morning, April 9, 2016, at the Pruitt Health Care Center in Walterboro. She was the wife of the late Mr. W. Kirby Crosby.

Funeral services were conducted 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, April 12, 2016, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend James W. Williams, Jr. and Dr. Mark Baker officiating. Interment followed on the family plot at Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.

Mrs. Crosby was born December 27, 1928 in Colleton County and was reared by her foster parents, the late Willie and Kate Smith. She was seamstress, having worked for thirty years before retiring from the Walterboro Dress Plant. She was a member of Bedon Baptist Church in Walterboro and was also a member of the Frontier Twirlers Square Dancing club. Mrs. Ernestine was an extremely talented Southern Cook who was highly sought after for her for her specialties, Red Velvet Cake, Pound Cake, Banana Pudding, and Fruit Cake. She held a special passion in her heart for animals and possessed a special love for her beloved dogs. Her family was her life and she will always be remembered as a wonderful provider and a very loving mother and grandmother that gave her all to those she loved.

Surviving are: a son, Woody Crosby and his wife Linda of Walterboro; a daughter, Elizabeth Crosby Floyd of Walterboro; a granddaughter, Sonya C. Floyd and her husband Mike of James Island and their two children, William Kirby Floyd and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Floyd; and a grandson, Jamie Floyd of Walterboro. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jimmie Floyd.
