The Colleton County Cougar Soccer team broke a 55-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over North Charleston on the road April 7.
Campbell Pryor, serving as the Cougar’s captain for the game, took a shot from around 25 yards out to score the go-ahead goal, putting an end to the losing streak. Freshman Lance Calcutt scored two goals (Riley Downey, assist) in the game.
“Campbell was our top player in the game,” said Coach Shane Fidler. “He played excellent on both sides of the ball.”
In region action during the week, the Cougars lost 11-0 against Ashley Ridge and would be shutout 8-0 by the Summerville Green Wave.
The JV Cougars lost 4-0 against Ashley Ridge and 5-0 against Summerville. They stand at 2-5 on the season. The varsity Cougars are now 1-8 overall. They will face Fort Dorchester, Bamberg-Ehrhardt and Ashley Ridge this week.
