Riley Bria of “American Idol” and “The Voice” will give a concert in Walterboro to benefit the Colleton Habitat for Humanity “Build a Home” fund. The concert will be at the Colleton County High School Performing Arts Center, 150 Cougar Nation Drive, on April 30 starting at 7 p.m. “Going to the Dogs Band” will be the opening act. Proceeds will go toward building a home in Colleton County for a family in need of affordable housing.
Colleton Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit that seeks to put Christ-like love in action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. The group began building homes around 1995 in our community.
The national organization was established in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, who wanted to address poverty housing on a global level. The Fuller’s concept was a partnership with housing centers for those in need of adequate shelter, working side by side with volunteers to build simple decent houses. Habitat is a non-profit organization. No interest financing is available.
To date, Habitat for Humanity has completed more than 600,000 homes around the world.
