Clemson football player Jim Brown got a surprise last week when he went to the post office.
Walterboro Postmaster Doug Mixson presented Brown with a special limited edition envelope, issued by select post offices in S.C. honoring the Tigers’ trip to the national championships. Only 3,500 of the envelopes with Clemson postmarks were printed, and they sold out within minutes.
A Walterboro mail carrier found one of the envelopes to present to Brown.
“On behalf of the employees of the Walterboro Post Office, I want to congratulate you on your exemplary career as a Clemson Tiger football player,” Mixson said. “The fact that you’re a native of Walterboro makes us all very proud, because during your career, the football program achieved national prominence, including the ACC Championship, the state championship and competing for the 2016 National Championship.
“Your hard work and perseverance make you an excellent role model for the children of Walterboro. Thank you for joining us to express our hometown pride,” Mixson said.
