Walterboro City Manager Jeff Molinari is in the process of distilling the city council’s retreat conversation into a 2016 municipal to-do list.
On Friday and Saturday, members of city council, Molinari and City Attorney George Cone traveled to the Wampee Conference Center in Pinopolis for their annual council retreat.
For the past few years, city officials had conducted their annual retreat in the city. Before that, they traveled outside the city for the comprehensive strategy session.
Molinari said having the city officials gather outside the city proved beneficial, as the lack of distractions made for a very efficient use of their time. The retreat was scheduled to come to a conclusion at 4 p.m. on Saturday, but council worked through their agenda with two hours to spare.
Molinari said Friday afternoon began with his hour-long assessment “of where we are on specific projects” that were on council’s to-do list from the 2015 retreat.
“That got the conversation started,” he added. The conversation — for the third retreat in a row — was guided by facilitator Jon Pierce.
Pierce is in the process of preparing a written report on the subjects of the discussion for Molinari.
Molinari will use Pierce’s report, as well as his own notes, to prepare a detailed report on the goals and objectives council members identified during the retreat. He hopes to have the report containing the 2016 to-do list ready for presentation at council’s Feb. 8 session.
