Colleton Medical Center nurses Florence Reed and Allison Tucci were honored with HCA Excellence in Nursing Awards at a ceremony last week at the hospital.
Reed received the HCA Excellence in Nursing Award for Compassionate Care, presented to a nurse who demonstrates exceptional nursing knowledge and expert skills, and consistently applies both with compassion and integrity, so that the quality of the care experience and the care outcomes are improved for patients in any clinical setting or nursing specialty.
“Florence has worked at Colleton Medical Center since 2003. She was recognized as going above and beyond to ensure that her patients receive the best possible care,” said Brad Griffin, CMC CEO. “Florence is known as a true patient advocate and tries to meet her patient’s needs regardless of the request. She is a team player and often assists other departments if they are in need.”
Tucci received the HCA Excellence in Nursing Award for Professional Mentoring, given to the “nurse who advances nursing practices in any clinical setting or nursing specialty by guiding or supporting career development for individuals or groups of nurses or by advancing evidence-based nursing knowledge.”
“Allison has worked at Colleton Medical Center since 2012. She was recognized as being an outstanding mentor, who is responsible for the orientation and training of many of the hospital’s new nurses,” Griffin said. “Allison shows great skill and compassion when training new staff, always willing to pass on her knowledge to those entering the nursing profession.”
The HCA Excellence in Nursing award was established as part of HCA’s Awards of distinctions. The award recognizes the intrinsic value of the nursing practice in accomplishing the company mission of providing the highest quality of care to the patients and communities HCA serves.
