The intersection of Bells Highway and Robertson Boulevard resembled a parking lot the morning of Feb. 11 as law enforcement officers swarmed into the area to apprehend an Orangeburg suspect.
Since mid-September, the Orangeburg Police Department had been searching for Aaron Ginn, 23, who was wanted on charges of kidnapping, armed robbery and possession of a weapon in the commission of a violent crime in connection with the robbery of an Orangeburg home.
As Ginn continued to elude capture, Orangeburg sought the assistance of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division’s fugitive task force.
Information generated by the search for Ginn led officers to determine he might be at a home near the intersection of Bells Highway and Robertson Boulevard.
Task force members sought the assistance of the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office in surrounding the home and searching for the suspect, and law enforcement officers arrived at the home Feb. 11 at about 11:03 a.m.
Ginn was taken into custody and moved to the Colleton County Detention Center to be held until he could be turned over to the Orangeburg Police Department.
The members of the task force then moved on to Dorchester County to begin tracking another suspect.
