FLORENCE – Chief Hospital Corpsman Lloyd Ashton Jones, Jr., United States Navy (Ret.) age 80, of Florence, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 in a Florence area hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Saturday morning, February 20, 2016, from the graveside in Sandy Dam United Methodist Churchyard, 3422 Charleston Highway, Walterboro.

Born August 17, 1935, in Richmond, Virginia, he was a son of the late Lloyd Ashton Jones, Sr. and the late Clara Spruill Jones. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having retired as Chief Hospital Corpsman and then as a Physician’s Assistant having served in Alaska. He was a Master Mason having been a member of Unity Lodge No. 55 in Walterboro and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a member of Sandy Dam United Methodist Church. He will always be remembered for his love of hunting and hunting dogs, especially his blue tick hounds. A truly Godly man who always placed God first in his life, he will forever be revered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-one years, Mary Elizabeth Caruthers Jones of Florence; three sons, Jeffrey F. (Nancy) Jones of Walterboro, David M. (Terrie) Jones of Charleston and Lloyd Ashton Jones, III of Florence; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Sandy Dam United Methodist Church, 3422 Charleston Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
