Jacksonboro resident Pam Wiley is slated to give a presentation during the South Carolina Music Educators Association (SCMEA) State Convention in Columbia this Saturday.
Wiley’s topic will be “How to Incorporate American Music into School Music Programs.”
As part of her presentation, Wiley will conduct an orchestra of participating music teachers in orchestral arrangements of American folk and fiddle tunes and explain how they can be used to motivate students and enhance technical progress on their instruments.
Wiley conducts The Jacksonboro Fiddle Club, a free after-school program in Colleton County. The program teaches children to play music from their cultural heritage.
Gar Linder of Smoaks is heading up a major fund-raising effort to support this program and establish a scholarship fund for sending Colleton County string students to a week-long summer music camp.
The fundraiser, the “Freedom Fest Banquet,” will be held at the Walterboro Elks Lodge on March 5.

Catalin, actually I did say. No directly but you can see my opinion of the iniattiive in the but last paragraph :D. And the point of marketing is just that: to make things sell when people do not want to buy: for reasons of economy, private likings or taste. Or should we abolish marketing for the duration of the financial crisis?

Good day! I know that is kinda off of topic yet I had been wondering which in turn blog platform have you been using for this website? I’m getting sick and tired of WordPress because I’ve had difficulties with hackers along with I’m looking at alternatives with regard to another system. I can be awesome if you could level me in the direction of a very good platform.
