Frank Petersen, 79, widower of Arlene Petersen, formerly of Beaufort, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at his son’s home in Smoaks, surrounded by his family.

Frank was born on November 20, 1936 in Jamaica, NY.  He is the son of the late Otto F. and Greta Petersen.  He raised his family in Toms River, NJ where he spent many hours fishing on one of his boats.  Frank also enjoyed sailing and working on his wooden boats in the off season.  In his later years, he and Arlene returned to South Carolina where they enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Frank was most proud of having served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps.  Semper Fi.

Surviving are his five children:  Ellynn (Jack) Kahle, Frederick (Sharon), Frank (Barbara) and Jim (Teri) Petersen, and Greta (Vinnie) Cancellieri; fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 2nd from 5-7pm at Anderson Funeral Home, Beaufort.

Private graveside funeral services will be held at Beaufort National Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions made to the American Cancer Society or to Amedisys Hospice.
