A domestic disturbance Monday evening sent two people to hospitals for treatment.
Colleton County Sheriff’s officers were called to a home in the 100 block of Seigler Drive Monday at 8:01 p.m. When deputies arrived at the home, the female resident reported she had been assaulted by a man with whom she had been in a previous relationship. The couple has a child together.
As the deputy was interviewing the woman and her mother, he saw the male suspect attempting to get on his moped and leave.
When the officer ordered the man off his moped, he noticed that blood covered one of his pant legs and called Colleton County Fire-Rescue to send an ambulance.
The woman said the man arrived at her home and started an argument. When the man was threatening her, she said, she called her mother.
The man reportedly kicked her and punched her in the face several times.
When the woman’s mother arrived at the home, the man began arguing with her, reportedly grabbing her by the hair and driving her head into the wall. As the fight continued, the woman’s mother reportedly hit the man with a brick and then her daughter hit him with a telephone.
Eventually, one of the women reportedly stabbed him several times with a sharp object. The woman’s mother sustained a deep cut to her hand.
Firefighter-paramedics transported the man to the Trauma Unit at Trident Medical Center for treatment of multiple stab wounds. The woman’s mother was taken to the Colleton Medical Center for treatment of her hand injury.
The incident remains under investigation.
