Council handles short agenda | News | The Press and Standard

A short Walterboro City Council agenda for its Jan. 26 meeting had city officials preparing for spring events.
The Walterboro-Colleton Chamber of Commerce was given council’s permission to have streets closed for its 5K Run/Walk and One Mile Fun Run on March 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
The Rice Festival Committee was given approval for a variety of requests, including street closings and a parade permit in preparation for the 2016 Rice Festival, planned April 22 and 23.
The Lowcountry Community Action Agency was given permission to use the city parking lot for its Community Action Day Event on May 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Council members accepted Ted Tucker’s resignation from the city’s Election Commission. Tucker is moving out of the city.
Council also approved the reappointment of Franklin Smalls to the Airport Commission.
