Lee Riley, the son of Coach Leroy and Cindy Riley of Walterboro, was named to the Fall 2015 Academic All-Conference Team.
Riley was a mainstay on The Citadel’s special teams this past year, as well as a long snapper on the punt team. The rising sophomore was among 31 student-athletes from The Citadel who were named to the team, announced Tuesday.
The Bulldogs had one of its most successful years on the football field as they won the Southern Conference, and a trip to the playoffs after upsetting South Carolina.
The Bulldogs’ 31 members ended the season tied for third among Southern Conference institutions.
To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the fall semester and are required to compete in at least half of their team’s competitions during the recently concluded campaign. Additionally, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
