Second-grader Richard Leyva of Northside Elementary was the county-wide winner of a new bicycle in Colleton Fire-Rescue’s coloring contest which was offered to all second-graders in the county schools during Fire Prevention Month in October. The students had to correctly answer 10 questions related to the fire safety materials taught by firefighters. Those who answered all of the questions correctly were then judged on their picture. Pictured with Richard are Captain Michael Banks of Colleton County Fire-Rescue; Jessica Hales, Richard’s second-grade teacher; and Tracy McDonald, principal of Northside Elementary.
